Q. How does NEC 409 apply when modifying an existing UL labeled panel that does not meet the requirements of 409? Particularly when our modification does not relate to the non-compliance issues.

A. Technically modifying a Listed panel voids the Listing. In addition, if an inspection by the local authority is conducted, NEC Article 409 could be enforced.
